According to ACI\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleaninginstitute.org\/newsroom\/releases\/tough-grime-2020-national-cleaning-survey-reveals-why-americans-rally-around\">2020 National Cleaning Survey<\/a>, 78 percent of adults say that on a typical day they\u2019d like their homes to be cleaner.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no surprise then that 78 percent of households also decide to spring clean every year. With the days getting warmer, now\u2019s the perfect time to clear out any clutter and grime that may have accumulated over the winter.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re not sure where to start, try prioritizing the areas that need the most attention. According to our survey, windows (65%), floors (64%), toilets (48%) and shelves (41%) tend to be the dirtiest spots in our homes.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some tips to get you to a cleaner, healthier home in just a few hours:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Toilets<\/strong><br \/>\nUse a toilet bowl cleaner to remove any hard water buildup in the bowl. Wipe the outside of the toilet and the toilet seat with a multipurpose or disinfectant cleaner. Make sure to get the hinge areas and bumpers too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shelves<\/strong><br \/>\nStart with the highest shelves and work your way down. Using a dusting tool or cloth, wipe dust from anything you have on the shelves and then the shelves themselves. Be sure to spray the dust remover onto the rag \u2013 instead of the items \u2013 to keep dust from dispersing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Windows<\/strong><br \/>\nUsing a cloth or a small broom, remove dust, soot, cobwebs and dead insects from the frames and sills. When cleaning the glass, spray glass cleaner onto a separate cloth \u2013 instead of the glass itself \u2013 to keep the cleaner away from the frames and sills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Floors<\/strong><br \/>\nSave these for last so you can sweep, vacuum or mop up all the dust and dirt \u2013 including what may have fallen off things you\u2019ve already cleaned.
