Eco-Friendly Cleaning Product Packaging

The theme for World Environment Day this year is focused on the need for collective action to tackle plastic pollution. Afterall, together we can #BeatPlasticPollution. The companies in the cleaning product supply chain are doing their part, with a goal to eliminate all cleaning product packaging waste by 2040. This important journey is driven by strategies to reduce the impact on the environment from packaging needed for the safe and efficient transport of cleaning products.

This may sound like an ambitious goal, but significant strides are already being made. By the end of this year, the cleaning products industry aims to have improved its recycling score by 25%. This means using fewer new materials and instead relying more on recycled materials. In addition, companies are making products more concentrated, which then requires less packaging overall.

Getting from more sustainable packaging to full circularity isn’t something the industry can do alone. It requires working with others. This involves educating consumers and working with governments and recycling facilities to build the infrastructure that can support a system where all packaging waste is collected, reused, recycled, or composted.

By setting ambitious goals, utilizing the latest advancements in technology, and working together, we can pave the way for a future where cleaning product packaging has a minimal environmental footprint and contributes to a more sustainable world.
