Keeping your bathroom clean ensures a sparkling space and helps maintain a healthy environment for your household. The bathroom is one of the trickiest rooms in the home. In a recent survey of 1,000 Americans age 18 and older, 38% of people said they dread cleaning. A whopping 40% of survey respondents admitting to being embarrassed by the last time they cleaned the toilet! But, the bathroom doesn’t have to be a chore to avoid. Use this step-by-step checklist to make your bathroom shine with ease. 

What Cleaning Products Do You Need? 

  • All-purpose cleaner 
  • Disinfectant spray or wipes 
  • Glass cleaner 
  • Toilet bowl cleaner 
  • Tile and grout cleaner 
  • Scrubbing brushes and sponges 
  • Microfiber cloths or cleaning rags 
  • Rubber gloves 

Step-by-Step Bathroom Cleaning Checklist 

  1. Remove items: Take out all towels, rugs and personal items from countertops and shower areas. 
  1. Dust and sweep: Dust light fixtures, vents and baseboards; sweep or vacuum the floor. 
  1. Clean mirrors and glass: Use a glass cleaner to wipe down mirrors and shower doors. 
  1. Scrub sinks and countertops: Apply all-purpose cleaner, scrub and rinse thoroughly. 
  1. Clean the toilet: Use toilet bowl cleaner and a brush inside the bowl, and clean and disinfect the seat, lid and handle. 
  1. Shower and tub: Spray tile and grout cleaner, scrub away soap scum and mildew, then rinse well. 
  1. Wipe down exterior surfaces: Clean the outside of the toilet, cabinets and any shelving. 
  1. Disinfect high-touch surfaces: Spray and wipe light switches, door handles and faucet handles with disinfectant. 
  1. Empty the trash: Replace the liner. 
  1. Mop the floor: Use a mop and floor cleaner safe for your bathroom flooring. 
  1. Replace items: Return clean towels, rugs and restock toilet paper and soap. 

For a greener clean, choose biodegradable cleaning products and packaging, such as those featuring PVA, which dissolve safely and break down after use.
