That’s what the Cold Water Saves polar bear was looking to find out when foraging in the community. He was pleased to learn that a lot of people already know about the energy and money-saving tip of washing your clothes in cold water.

90% of the energy used by washing machines during laundry goes towards heating the water
Warm water or hot water accelerates the fading of darker colors, so washing in cold will help them look better for longer.
Washing garments stained with things like grass, makeup and blood in hot can make the stains permanent, ruining your clothes and your day.
Cold water can be used to wash anything, but there are some items that should always be washed in cold water, like wool, silk, satin and hand-dyed fabrics.
