Contributing to the Sustainability Conversation

There is a cleaning products industry wide ambition to achieve net zero industry carbon emissions. So far 20 companies on the cleaning product supply chain have taken up this challenge to complete this immense task by 2050. We’re highlighting a few of the companies on this path.

Congratulations to this year’s new members of the 1.5֯ C Challenge:

Arxada is committed to solving the world’s toughest preservation challenges through better science. Their environmental efforts are focused on operating eco-efficiently and respecting the planet’s natural resources. While their products have an enormous positive societal and environmental impact, they are also improving the efficiency of their facilities and supply chain, contributing towards a reduction in our environmental footprint. Their ambition is to become a low-carbon specialty chemical company with a net zero carbon footprint, and they are well ahead of our 2030 goal of 50% reduction in GHG. To meet their net zero by 2050 target, they will be working to reduce our emissions in line with our SBTi submitted targets.

Milliken’s science-based net-zero targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative. Milliken will reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 from a 2018 baseline year.

There is also a new case study from current Challenge member IFF on how they’re working to achieve an ambitious goal.

IFF is taking on climate change with a multi-pronged strategy to minimize its carbon footprint and with the ambition to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040. Simultaneously, the company delivers innovative solutions that support its customers to meet their net-zero targets while enhancing everyday tasks like dishwashing and laundry.

Other companies also on this path include BASF, Colgate-Palmolive, Croda, Dow, Ecolab, Evonik, Firmenich, Henkel, Kuraray Monosol, Novozymes, Reckitt, Sasol, Seventh Generation, Shell, The Clorox Company, Twin Rivers Technologies, and Univar Solutions.
